Peace Rebel Radio is where two musical worlds collide: award-winning jazz saxophonist Carolyn Breuer meets high-energy rock’n’roll guitarist Christian Sudendorf. Together they create something new: a sound they call Urban Folk.

At times tender and poetic, at times powerful and uncompromising, the duo brings acoustic guitar and saxophone together in a distinctive sound: deeply rooted in folk, with excursions into blues and jazz, yet breathing the pulse of the city. Their songs speak of departure and resistance, of human strength and vulnerability, and of the courage to change. Peace Rebel Radio stands for music with attitude: far from the interchangeable, close to real life.

Carolyn Breuer

Carolyn Breuer has been a fixture on the European jazz scene since the 1990s. She studied jazz saxophone in Hilversum and New York, among others with Branford Marsalis and George Coleman.

She was the first woman to play in Germany’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra under Peter Herbolzheimer, toured worldwide, appeared at almost all major jazz festivals in Europe and released numerous albums under her own name. For her recording with the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, she received the Heidelberg Female Artist Award — the first jazz musician ever to do so.

Christian Sudendorf

Christian Sudendorf originally comes from rock’n’roll. As a guitarist, he toured Europe as a member of the V8 Wankers with W.A.S.P. and Rose Tattoo; with The Wild Magnolia Mariachis and the Mexican Tequila Guerrilleros he also served as house band of the legendary Titty Twisters. He brings a rougher, uncompromising tone to the project. His musical roots lie in blues, rock and folk — and his joy of playing is direct and powerful.

Together they form a duo that weaves together the depth of jazz, the directness of rock and the storytelling power of folk. At times tender and poetic, at times powerful and uncompromising, Peace Rebel Radio combines acoustic guitar and saxophone into a sound that breathes the pulse of the city while remaining deeply rooted in the acoustic tradition.

What drives them is more than sound: they have something to say. Their music is protest and poetry at once: a rebellious call for peace, justice and a more conscious way of being together.
